Curt’s racing career began at the early age of 13. Before he could drive on the street, he was driving a 4-cylinder dirt car, but like all great crew chiefs, his love for turning wrenches overcame the urge to drive. He began working on street stocks at the dirt tracks in Illinois. At the age of 15, Curt was promoted to crew chief on a few of the street stock teams he had helped out on. His teams won several races and a couple of track championships.
After two years as a crew chief, Curt was given the opportunity to work on a UMP Dirt Late Model team. Curt’s knowledge was an exceptional asset to the team which went on to win multiple races and track championships as well as a national title. Curt’s dirt career was capped off by winning several poles, multiple races and a championship at the end of the season with a Sportsman team.
The next step for Curt was moving to North Carolina to pursue a career in NASCAR. He went to work for a small NASCAR Nationwide team where he learned every aspect of the cars. Over the next few years, he worked as a mechanic and tire changer for different NASCAR teams in the top-three levels.
After a while, Curt began to feel the desire to build car and truck bodies. So, he gave up traveling with the team and started fabricating. Over the next several years he was able to work for many good teams which won many poles and races in the then Winston West Series, the Craftsman Truck Series, the Busch Series and the Winston Cup Series. Along with his fabrication duties, Curt was also the shop foreman for several of the teams and companies he worked for.
Racing Legends cars was something Curt did for fun in his spare time while working for NASCAR teams in the 90’s. During those times, Curt and his friends won multiple races and championships at many different tracks in the Carolinas.
Curt always enjoyed the competition and the close family ties of the Legends racing. So, when the time was right, he formed Team Wicked. Since opening the doors, the team has won alot races and had numerous top-three finishes with multiple drivers. The team has also won multiple points championships along with National championships.
Curt has the ability to help drivers improve their finishing positions. If you finish in the top-ten, he will get you to the top-five. If you are a consistent top-five finisher, Curt will get you to victory lane.
Curt’s love for the sport continues to grow along with the size of his trophy case. He has won races and championships in every form of racing he has competed in and Legends racing is no different. His dedication and work habits are the sole reason for his success.
